Woven Matter

For this year’s 3daysofdesign Linie Design has launched the collection Woven Matter, designed by Norm Architects and Urd Moll Gundermann. Woven Matter draws inspiration from the quiet strength of Japanese architecture, where form follows feeling and every line holds intention.

Head of Design at Linie Design, Urd Moll Gundermann, explains: “Each piece is crafted with a deep respect for material honesty and manual processes. The use of hand-carded yarn adds unpredictability and vitality, woven into the surface like small woven stories of texture and depth. When these hand-carded threads are combined with smooth, even yarns, a subtle dialogue arises between the rustic and the refined”.

Rooted in the principles of structure, tranquillity, and movement, the designs reflect an architectural rhythm: the repetition of lines, the interplay of space and pause, the subtle tension between stillness and flow.

The Woven Matter collection unfolds in soft surfaces, where each rectangular unit rests in perfect order, like quiet, pulsating rhythms beneath the feet. Wool, linen, and jute are carefully chosen for their own distinct character. The tactile language of the rugs - their texture, weight, and woven geometry - speaks to traditional craftsmanship while embracing a contemporary, minimal aesthetic. Nothing is added without meaning. Nothing is rushed.
