About

Inspiration

Bodil’s ideas for new designs are created by merging her knowledge of materials and techniques with the desire to explore this knowledge in new ways. She loves experimenting with materials and colours, fascinated by the possibilities for new designs that appear while working at the loom. Nature is also a major influence, with objects like seashells, stones and minerals providing sources of inspiration for patterns and structure.

The story of Bologna rug

Designed by Bodil Jerichau for Linie Design in 1993, Bologna is a fine example of a simple weave structure with different materials in the two weaving directions of each square, creating multiple layers that add depth and dimension. The colour combination and the placement of the colours in the woven structure have to be precisely coordinated to create an even expression in the rug’s design.
